A History of the Twin Mattress
Physics.org has an excellent article on the history of the Twin mattress based on research by Lancaster University academic Professor Hilary Hinds . They point out that twin beds:
- Were early on accepted as a good health option in the late nineteenth century. It was thought that separate beds would prevent couples from passing on germs to one another during sleep.
- By the 1920s, were considered as as a fashionable, sanitary choice. Intelligent middle classes couples were expected to opt for this size choice.
- By the 1930s and 1940s, had become almost as commonplace as double beds for couples.
- In the United Kingdom, from the 1920 to the 1930s onward, were indicators of social customs and cultural values relating to good health, modernity and culturally accepted marriage norms. Soon twin beds had began to be seen as indicative of a troubled marriage partnership. In the 1950s and by the late 1960s they has acquired a negative reputation as the preferred choice for married couples.

How much does a twin mattress delivery cost?
Shipping is always free to addresses inside the contiguous 48 states of the US. This is true both for outbound shipping as well as for any inbound returns. There is an extra charge to ship to Alaska and Hawaii.
Will Nectar remove my existing mattress?
Nectar is able to arrange the removal of your existing mattress using its White Glove Service. The charge for this is $149 plus an additional $45 for any other White Glove Service items. If you live in California, Rhode Island or Connecticut, please note that there is an additional fee due to state mandates in each region.
Will Nectar help me setup my new mattress?
If you order through the White Glove Delivery Service, Nectar will indeed set up your mattress when it arrives at your home.

How soon is the Layla Mattress delivered?
The Layla Mattress takes 2-3 business days to manufacture and to send out. Once shipped, you should receive your order within 2-5 business days depending on where you live in the United States.

No, it is completely free. This is also true for any subsequent Returns as well. There is no additional charge. Exceptions are however made for Alaska and Hawaii, both of which come at extra cost.

How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is available only to the lower 48 US states. It is totally free.
How do I track my order?
Orders usually go out inside 3 to 6 business days. Once hipped, you will be sent a UPS tracking number by email. Use this to follow your package and check on the delivery status.
How much time does it take a mattress to arrive?
Idle mattresses ship by UPS Ground. As a general rule, delivery is within 4 to 10 business days. The range depends on where in the country you are located. Incidentally, King and Queen mattress delivery can take longer because they have to be sent to UPS Freight firstly. An email with your tracking number is emailed to you as soon as your order goes out.
White Glove Delivery items are sent to a delivery hub initially. That facility will reach out to you directly to arrange a delivery appointment inside 3 business days of the date they receive your order.
Will Idle help me set up my new mattress?
There is an optional White Glove Delivery Service offered. Through this Idle will set up your new mattress once it has arrived to your address.
I live in Alaska/Hawaii, can you ship to me?
No, there is at present no mattress delivery to these states.
Can my old mattress be removed for me?
Yes, this optional feature can be arranged through Idles’s White Glove Service. Through this, you will have to call the company’s removal partner, LoadUp on 844-239-7711 and arrange a suitable date and time to remove your old mattress. There is a fee of $125 for this.
Can I specify a date I want my queen mattress delivery?
No. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to specify shipment date.
Can a Twin mattress be delivered internationally?
At the present time, shipping is only available to the contiguous United States, not including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, etc.

Brooklyn Bedding Twin Mattress Delivery
Brooklyn Bedding offers free shipping through FedEx Ground. This is available for all products to all contiguous U.S. States. Once shipped, It usually takes 3-5 business days for Fedex to deliver packages.
Twin mattress shipping to Hawaii or Alaska costs extra. Shipments to Canada are dispatched by DHL and start at $250 for each mattress. You should note that shipping charges to Hawaii, Alaska and Canada are non-refundable.
Mattress exchanges and returns
There are three ways in which Brooklyn Bedding will offer to attempt to help you if you are not satisfied with the product you receive.
1) Modifying your new mattress. For example, if your mattress is too firm but otherwise comfortable, an option is to add a topper to create more cushion. This way, the current level of support can be maintained.
2) Checking to make sure that you have the appropriate frame and center support for your new twin mattress.
3) Exploring another Brooklyn Bedding mattress that may be a preferable option for and exchanging your twin sleep system for this. In any such events, shipping on all exchanges are totally without charge. Do be aware though that prices between different mattress models may vary.
If all of the above fail, Brooklyn Bedding can refund your money in full if desired. Note as previously noted, however that shipping charges to Hawaii, Alaska and Canada are non-refundable.
